Anna Movement: Political Baptism of the Young India
The Anna Hazare movement saw youngsters in their 20s and 30s, dressed in their jeans and bermudas, T-shirts and sweatshirts, in their sandals and sneakers, on roads, outside Tihar Jail, in the Ramlila Maidan and almost all states of India. This was a moment of their political baptism.
Though the protests seemed to have some justification of people’s pent up anger towards the system, but the justification was increasingly turned into the‘victim’ feeling that the crowd said it will not tolerate. Infact at Mumbai’s Azad Maidan, only few people could justify their presence. People do not know exactly the reason what they are fighting for. They feel connected to Anna’s movement as it is anti-government, exposes the corruption spread by the blemished UPA govt and their inability to check it.
